The other side of lighthouse life. The element of it that people most often touch on when speaking with me is the isolation. It seems strangely apt now in these broken and strange times when so many are living a lighthouse life to some extent. The isolation of island/lighthouse life had two sides to it. It brought with it a sense of freedom, resilience, wonder and peace. On the other side of this of course was loneliness and dislocation. A feeling of loss, of missing the life that you'd left behind on the mainland. Another world away. The Searching Night takes us into those imaginings. Imagining that maybe little touches of this old life can sustain us in the new. This is a full co-write between myself and Jen.
