As a teenager my Uncle Phil served in the British Merchant Navy in the years following WW2. He spent several years travelling all of the world's oceans. Every time that his ship would pass a lighthouse the Chief Officer would point to it and say, "That's the job you want, safe on dry land".

There's a whole world lying out there waiting for me to wade right in,
The gun smoke is clearing as we turn the final sod,
Won't look behind and I do my very best to hide the scars,

We sail on the morning tide when there's a veil over the water,

On a coal black night one minute seems a lifetime when you're late,
